Adapting Literature - Producing Film (FVD 133S) Spring 2007

Artist in Residence, Dante James, with his class of eighteen undergraduates will produce a film of the short story, The Doll, written by black writer, Charles W. Chesnutt .  Mr. James is guiding the students in pulling together all the critical elements to produce the final film.

1. screened at the Hayti Black Diaspora film festival February 16, 2008
2. screened at the Legacy Film Festival in Baltimore MD, at The Reginald F. Lewis Museum on March 1, 2008 3. screened at the San Diego Black Film Festival Feb 1, 2008. Clayton LeBouef won best actor award.
4. screened at the Auburn Sweet Auburn International Film Festival in Atlanta, Ga.
The Doll won award for best short film.
5. screened at the Hollywood Black Film Festival June 6, 2008. The Doll won for best short film.
6. screened at the San Francisco Black Film Festival June 14, 2008.
The Doll was a finalist in the Melvin Van Peeples Award completion.
7. "The Doll" has been selected for the Chicago Art Institute Gene Siskel Film Festival in August 2008.
